
About Jia
Pianist Jia Meng is an emerging artist from Dalian, China and has performed in several venues throughout China and the United States, and has appeared on the front cover of the Clavier Companion magazine (July/Aug 2017 issue). As a winner of the 2022 Concerto Competition at the University of Georgia, she has performed Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the University of Georgia Wind Ensemble.
Meng is an active performer and teacher in the Chicago area, and serves as the 2nd Vice President and Membership Chair of the North Shore Music Teachers Association. With a deep interest in piano pedagogy, she has explored a wide range of teaching methodologies and draws on a wealth of disciplines to teach according to her students’ learning style. Currently, she is a Steinway Teacher in the Chicago area and serves on the faculty at the Music Conservatory of Illinois.
Meng is a D.M.A. candidate at the University of Georgia under Evgeny Rivkin, where she is also receiving a minor in Piano Pedagogy. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts, where she studied with Winston Choi and Edward Auer.
